Ipsy Jan 2015: Fresh Start
Ipsy kicked off 2015 with a #freshstart theme. If you're curious about what I've gotten so far, check out my 2014 Ipsy reviews. You can also view my Ipster page for more product and pricing information.
Below are my thoughts on the products I received from most favorite to least favorite:
"Ipsy Jan 2015: Fresh Start" blog post review by StyleMeJY.com #ipsy #januaryglambag
Glam Bag: White on one side and royal blue on the other with an orange zipper. I get they're going with a fresh look, but it didn't appeal to me personally. I did like the embossed texture and appreciated this bag was lined.
(MALIN+GOETZ) Mojito Lip Balm: It took a while to get used to the slick texture of the formula, but I loved how the long-wearing balm protected my lips and added a glossy sheen. This was my most used item out of this month's Ipsy bag. I used it during the day to protect my lips and overnight for a repair boost.
LAURA MERCIER Foundation Primer: A perennial favorite of mine that I usually have on-hand in the full-size version. This "Mini-Me" is perfect for traveling. I love how Laura Mercier primers work to minimize shine and prolong the longevity of your base make-up.
PACIFICA Natural Mineral Coconut Eye Shadow: A very pretty neutral shade with shimmer. It's a great color to use for blending. I've also been using this just by itself all over the lid to brighten up my eyes for everyday looks.
COASTAL SCENTS Liquid Eyeliner: Very black formula and tip was easy to use. I still prefer gel eyeliners since I have the option to smoke them out and can also tightline, so won't be reaching for this too often.
HEY HONEY Take It Off! Exfoliating Honey Peel Off Mask: I wanted to love this. I really did. However, while taking the mask off is enjoyably reminiscent of peeling Elmer's glue off your fingers (yeah, I'm one of those :D), the entire production took way too long and was very messy. The mask does seem to work well as a very gentle way to exfoliate.
Overall, even with the disappointing mask, I was very happy with my Ipsy glam bag this month. The inclusion of Laura Mercier impressed me, and I've been wanting to see more eyeshadow products in the glam bags. Plus, the lip balm saved me from spending another winter day with chapped lips ;)
Hope you all are off to a great start in 2015!
