Ipsy 2014: October | November | December
Soooo, it's been a good three months since my last Ipsy review. If you missed it or want to know more about Ipsy, I posted a first impression of my very first Ipsy #glambag from September. Check out my Ipster page for more product and pricing information.
Starting with December, since it's the most recent, here are my thoughts on the products I received from most favorite to least favorite:
"Ipsy Dec 2014: Brave Soul" blog post review by StyleMeJY.com #ipsy #thinkingofyou
Glam Bag: The rectangular shape functions great as a traveling case and fits my longer makeup brushes. Yay! I hope they come out with more designs in this shape.
CAILYN COSMETICS Just Mineral Eye Polish in Orchid: Gorgeous eyeshadow that also works as a pretty highlighter for under your brow bone, lips and cheeks. The neutral color is great as an everyday color to brighten your eyes. I do a quick swipe all over the lids and dab a bit in my inner corners to add some sparkle.
CROWN BRUSH Infinity Shadow/Crease Duet Brush: A dual-ended brush that is an all-in-one for simple smokey eyes. I use the smaller, firmer brush to pack on the color, and the fluffy blending brush to blend and brighten the inner corners.
BUMBLE AND BUMBLE Straight Blow Dry: I haven't had a chance to try this out yet, but I really like Bumble and Bumble products (the Surf spray is a cult favorite!) and it smells gooooood like perfumed wood. Plus, the anti-frizz benefits are a perfect match for my hair type.
NYX COSMETICS Butter Lip Balm in Lady Fingers: True to its name, the formula is buttery and moisturizing. However, the coverage wasn't as smooth as I was hoping for and the color was a little too bright for me personally.
TARTE Deluxe Lights, Camera, Lashes™ 4-in-1 Mascara: Sadly, I don't use mascara since it either irritates me when I put it on or causes too much breakage when I take it off. Most of the time, the mascara slips right off and I end up with lovely raccoon eyes anyway. I might try using this on my lower lashes since I love the Tarte brand.
"Ipsy Nov 2014: Girl Meets Glitter" blog post review by StyleMeJY.com #ipsy #girlmeetsglitter
First off, I liked everything in November's bag! Yay for an all-star selection this month.
Glam Bag: Can't say no to glitter! I'll be using this as a traveling case or storage bag for delicate necklaces and jewelry.
IT COSMETICS Bye Bye Under Eye®: I was super excited to see a product from IT Cosmetics in November's bag. I use their waterproof Brow Perfector and IT DOES NOT COME OFF, even on humid, hot days or after swimming at the beach. The concealer is another great find from this brand. The color was a bit too dark for me to use under my eyes (I like to go lighter there for a brightening effect), but it works amazingly as a spot concealer. The coverage is opaque and matte, and the product doesn't slip around. The concealer sets well enough that I can pat powder blush on top without disturbing the product underneath too much.
MARC ANTHONY Oil of Morocco Argan Oil Volume Shine Hairspray: Strong yet bouncy hold and makes my hair shiny because of the argan oil and keratin. I also really appreciate that the product is sulfate-free.
STARLOOKS Gem Eye Pencil in Ultra Olive: Soft and creamy eye pencil in a shimmery neutral shade. I like using this to add some subtle shading in my crease and outer corners with a light all-over color. Or, as a sultrier highlighter with darker eye looks.
J. CAT BEAUTY Wonder Lip Paint in Mad Splatter: Juicy, shiny color that lends the perfect sheer tint to your lips. The color definitely looks much scarier in the packaging than it really is. My lips don't feel sticky and it lasted me for a good few hours. I only wish the applicator was a bit easier to use since the formula is thinner and can go all over the place.
SeaRX Birch Sap Moisturizing Lotion: Another great moisturizing lotion that sinks right into my skin with no sticky residue. The scent is light and citrusy. Plus, I really like the gel texture of the lotion as well.
"Ipsy Oct 2014: Beauty Candy" blog post review by StyleMeJY.com #ipsy #beautycandy
Glam Bag: The October bag reminds me of Clinique for some reason? Maybe because of the color! I'll be using it as as storage bag in my purse since the material is padded and sturdy.
FIGS & ROUGE Hand Cream in Rose Berry: I love LOVE love this hand cream enriched with shea butter. The lotion looks creamy, but is very absorbent and leaves your hands feeling soft instead of sticky. I think this hand cream single-handedly saved my hands from getting dry and irritated this fall/winter. And, the Rose Berry scent is fresh and fruity!
STARLOOKS Lip Gloss in Guilty Pleasure: At a very close second, I'm most impressed with how this lip gloss smooths and covers chapped lips (#guilty). The formula is shiny and opaque, but manages to feel lightweight. Plus, the color is a beautiful neutral-rose shade that complements most everything.
NICOLE BY OPI Nail Lacquer in Feeling Very Cherry: I'm a big fan of Nicole by OPI nail polishes. The polishes usually apply well and last fairly long. The dark red polish is pretty, but I have so many burgundy shades (and one I actually received from Ipsy in an earlier bag) that I might have enjoyed this more if it came in the On a Gilt Trip color.
ÉPICÉ INTERNATIONAL Purifying Exfoliant: Exfoliating is a great way to keep your skin healthy and blemish-free. I'm a bit cautious about what I put on my face since I have sensitive skin, but you can also use this exfoliant on your body. It's worked well so far in keeping my arms and legs soft and smooth.
MODELCO VOLUMEYES Extreme Black Mascara: Again, I don't use mascara :(
Overall, after four months of Ipsy bags, I'm still very happy with my experience. For $10 a month, I still manage to find something I love and am excited to try new things - that makes it worthwhile to me!
